Vegas Baby! (Luck in Love Book 1) Page 11
“Hey babe,” Xavier said.
“It’s done,” Natalie said. “The flowers made it into the building. He stayed long enough that I’m sure they were delivered.”
“Good.”
“Xavier, do you really think this is going to work?”
“Has the woman called her?”
“Later on tonight,” Natalie said. “Everyone is here.”
“It will. Then Londyn will embarrass him, Michelle can pick up the pieces, and I won’t be disrespected again.” He huffed. “She said she’ll have the hospital call me. No, I’m going to be in that room, delivering the baby.”
“And I’ll be right there.”
“She’s not going to let you in that room.”
“Do you love her?” Natalie said. “I thought you loved me. I didn’t do all of this just to get sidelined.”
“We’re not talking about this anymore,” Xavier said.
“You want me to find her and let her know what happened? I’m sure she’s here somewhere.”
“I’m right here,” I yelled, three people away from them. “What do you have to tell me?”
Natalie and Xavier were stunned.
“What are you talking about Londyn?” Xavier said. “You’re making a scene.”
Hendrix positioned himself partially between us.
“Oh, now he’s a bodyguard,” Xavier said.
“This is nothing compared to how it’s going to be when you’re arrested in a few minutes,” I said. “I know what you did and what you put Natalie up to. I just didn’t think you’d go as far as trying to kill me.”
“I didn’t try and kill you that was an accident,” Xavier said.
“Was it?” I said. “Or was it staged? You seemed to know the perfect time to visit me after the break in. You had a feeling I would find out ‘the truth.’ How do I not know that you were stalking me all along? You found out about Keene through Natalie and couldn’t take it—me moving on.”
“That didn’t happen,” Xavier said. “I wouldn’t kill a woman I love.”
Natalie slapped Xavier. “I knew it! I knew from the beginning. You weren’t over her. You’d never be over her. You used me to pass the time then you set me up to lose to this one. All of this for a woman who couldn’t find her own man. She had Michelle crying when she got home, leaving me to clean up the situation.”
“You tried to kill me?” I said.
“Like Xavier said it was an accident,” Natalie said. “Now, if you’ll excuse me.” Natalie tried to move away from us, but Hendrix slid over. Xavier used the opportunity to try and sneak off, but Hendrix went after him. Thinking he was slick, Xavier spun around, throwing a punch. Hendrix stopped Xavier’s arm in midair, inches from his face. Xavier tried to hit Hendrix again, and Hendrix got him in the stomach before he had flipped Xavier’s arm around and pinned him to the side of the bar. Xavier’s mouth was open and he shut his eyes a few times before he realized what had happened.
Before Natalie took off, she tried to punch me in the face. I ducked and hit part of her shoulder, but she skipped through the crowd until Leslie and Jackson blocked her. Natalie tried to go around, and Leslie got a hold on her and was about to scratch up her face before the security apprehended Natalie. Both Xavier and Natalie were removed from the club, taken outside, and the police were contacted.
“Londyn,” Hendrix said, jetting to me as soon as Xavier was taken away. “Sweetie, are you alright? She didn’t hurt you did she?” He tried to examine me.
“I’m fine,” I said. “She missed.”
“Londyn,” Michelle said, making her way to me. “I’m sorry! I didn’t ask Natalie to do anything. I didn’t know what she planned. I would have stopped her!”
“It’s not your fault,” I said. “She’ll pay for what she did now.”
Michelle nodded. “I’m glad you’re OK.”
Leslie, Shauna, Casey, and Alyssa ran up and hugged me while Jackson checked on Hendrix. Off in the distance, I saw Ariel smile at me and pump her fist a couple of times. Then an announcement was made, stating that the situation was taken care of and without further delay the show would start soon.
Hendrix slid his fingers in between mine as Michelle gathered with Shauna, Casey, and Alyssa on the opposite side of Leslie and Jackson.
“Bet you never thought you’d be this lucky, good and bad all at the same time,” Hendrix said. “Add bar brawl to your list. And you’re not even in Vegas.”
I chuckled. “Maybe my Vegas luck wasn’t so bad after all.”
